Stop keeping your life small ✨ What’s AI got to do with it?

The AI Over 50 Guy

Hi friends 👋,

There’s a quiet tragedy that many people over 50 live with. It’s something we rarely talk about.

It’s not our health, and it’s not the people we’ve lost.

It’s the creative sparks, the stories, the wisdom inside us that may never be expressed.

The urgency of unleashing our stories and creativity is a big part of why I’ve come to call myself The AI Over 50 Guy. It’s why I see AI very differently than most people.

For me, AI isn’t about replacing creativity. It’s about unleashing it.

AI is much more than a one-off tool or a “fancy Google.” It’s something you develop a relationship with… a practice you practice… a thought partner that helps you stay with ideas long enough for them to take form.

In today’s video, I share:
✨ Why I believe the real risk isn’t AI itself, but unexpressed creativity
✨ How working with AI as a creative partner has deepened my intuition and inner life
✨ A dream involving Paul McCartney that revealed something important about legacy, preservation, and untold stories
✨ Why I believe our stories don’t need permission. They need a partner

What I’m increasingly drawn toward in this season of my life isn’t creativity for its own sake, or AI for its own sake, but turning what’s alive inside us into something that can be shared, experienced, & passed on.

Unexpressed creativity doesn’t just disappear; it stays inside us. Over time, that can make our lives feel smaller.

Your creative sparks matter. Don’t let them die.

If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you.

Keep creating,
Jon

The Most Underrated Gift of AI ✨ (It’s Not What You Think)

AI Creativity Chronicles
Weekly Insights from
The AI Over 50 Guy

Hi friends 👋,

I really do love all the things AI can help me create 🎨🎬⚡
But I don’t think that’s its most important quality.

What’s surprised me most is this:

🧠 AI has become a thought partner for me.

A place to think out loud.
To explore half-formed ideas.
To play. To reflect. To follow a feeling until it becomes something real.

And honestly?
It makes me a little sad that so many people over 50 don’t realize this kind of support is now available to them.

In this week’s video, I share three reasons why AI as a thought partner really matters, each with a personal example of how it’s changed my creative life:

✨ How AI restores creative conversation in an increasingly isolating world
✨ How it reflects who you really are (instead of pushing you harder)
✨ How it brings back the freedom to play, experiment, and explore

👇 Watch the video here:

This isn’t about mastering tools.
It’s about creative agency.

It’s about not letting your ideas, stories, and sparks quietly fade away.

And perhaps most importantly:
AI doesn’t ask you to become someone new.

It helps you express more of who you already are.

So I’ll leave you with the same question I ask at the end of the video:

💭 What creative spark do you still have inside that might be waiting for a thought partner to help bring it to life?

If you feel like sharing, I’d truly love to hear it — hit reply or drop a comment on the video. I’d love to hear from YOU.

Until next time,

🧠🎨 The Real Reason Over 50s Fear AI. It’s Not What You Think.

AI Creativity Chronicles
Weekly Insights from
The AI Over 50 Guy

Most people assume AI feels scary because it’s complicated.
I don’t buy that.

AI feels scary because it challenges something far more personal:
our relevance, our authorship, our creative agency.

And here’s the part we rarely name 👇

⚠️ The Hidden Cost of AI Fear

The real cost isn’t falling behind technologically. It’s what happens instead of creating:

  • 📱 Consuming instead of expressing
  • 💬 Commenting instead of sharing
  • 💤 Doomscrolling instead of making

That’s not a tech problem.
That’s the quiet shrinking of our creative lives.

🎥 Watch This & Then Read More

I address this challenge head-on in my latest YouTube video:

video preview

👻 Fear of the Apocalypse Is NOT the Real Story

We’ve inherited decades of tech terror memes: Frankenstein, 2001, The Terminator, The Matrix. 🤖

They’re dramatic and memorable, but they’re not what’s actually holding people over 50 back.

The deeper fear is quieter:

What if I become irrelevant?
What if my valuable human creativity matters less now?

That fear shrinks us — and that is the real danger.

🔥 AI Didn’t Create This Anxiety. It Surfaced It.

Here’s the reframe:

AI doesn’t make you smaller.
Avoiding it does.

Used well, AI doesn’t replace creativity, it amplifies it.
It doesn’t replace wisdom, it gives your life experience leverage.

AI doesn’t ask you to become someone new.
It gives you a chance to be more of who you already are.

🎨 You Don’t Need to Become “An AI Person”

This isn’t about mastering tools or publishing content.

It’s about permission:

  • ✍️ To create more
  • 🤝 To use AI as a thought partner
  • 🎲 To play — privately or publicly
  • 🌱 To reclaim curiosity and momentum

Moving past AI fear isn’t about keeping up. It’s about choosing expression over contraction.

🌟 What’s on the Other Side

When you stop shrinking:

  • Age becomes an asset
  • Creativity feels alive again
  • Contribution becomes meaningful
  • And yes, it’s a lot more fun 😄

That’s the heart of Getting Over the AI Hump, a cohort-based course for creative people over 50 who are ready for a creative reset. This will not be another tech bootcamp.

👉 More details coming very soon.

💬 One Last Question

Does this resonate? Have you felt that pull between wanting to create and holding back?

If so, I’d love to hear from you.

Because you matter. Your voice matters. And this creative, AI-empowered moment is worth stepping into. ✨

Don’t let any kind of fear hold you back, especially not fear of AI.

I want to help you turn AI into an ally.

Stop using AI like a “Fancy Google” 🚫 🔍 5 Ways to Use ChatGPT Better.

AI Creativity Chronicles
Weekly Insights from
The AI Over 50 Guy

Hey friend 👋

A recent confession from someone over 50 stopped me in my tracks:

“I’m basically only using ChatGPT like a fancy Google. What am I missing? How do I get more out of AI?”

If that question feels familiar, you’re not alone — and you’re definitely not behind.

The problem isn’t you. It’s that most of us were never shown what AI can actually do beyond search-mode.

🧠 AI Isn’t a Better Google. It’s a Creative Partner.

When you stop treating AI like a lookup tool, something shifts.

It becomes:

  • a thought partner that helps you think more clearly
  • a new creative medium, on par with the PC or the internet
  • a storytelling amplifier for decades of lived wisdom
  • a playground where curiosity comes back online

That’s what this week’s video is all about.

The Big Idea

Once you move past old Google habits, AI becomes a totally different kind of creative tool — one that helps you express what you already know, feel, and care about.

✨ Your Story Can Now Be Told. Learn How AI Can Help You See What’s Next

AI Creativity Chronicles
Weekly Insights from
The AI Over 50 Guy

Hey friend 👋

If you’ve ever looked back on your life’s work and struggled to put the pieces into a clear story, you’re in good company. So many creatives over 50 feel that mix of confusion, overwhelm, and “where do I even start?” when it comes to AI.

Here’s a perspective on AI you might not have heard before:
You’re not behind. Your story is still unfolding. And AI isn’t replacing you—it’s here to help you amplify what you’ve lived.

Your Story Has Power. AI Makes It Easier to See. 🎨 🧭

My own journey—decades of media innovation, bridging the Grand Canyon Gap between people and technology, community building, and creative exploration—has always had a through-line. Yet, when I fed a simple one-page bio into an AI illustration tool (Nano Banana Pro), the through-line snapped into focus.

Suddenly, I could see my story: the map, the themes, the pivots, the hidden connections that shaped who I’ve become. That experience is exactly what pushed me into this next chapter as The AI Over 50 Guy.

AI became a thought partner—not replacing my creativity, but expanding it.

And that’s the part I want you to feel: your lived experience is meaningful. AI can help you express it.

A Simple AI Experimentation Recipe 🍲✨

Ready to play? You don’t need a big project. You don’t need fancy gear. You just need one story you’ve been carrying.

Here’s what works:

  1. Pick one meaningful moment from your life.
  2. Tell it the way you’d tell a close friend—messy, human, real. (Recording a voice memo is perfect.)
  3. Drop that story into Nano Banana Pro or another visual tool (see video below for a demo) and ask/prompt it to create a map, an infographic, a scene—whatever fits your fancy.
  4. Then, iterate (ask for revisions). Then iterate again. Play. Explore. Follow the Juice.

This simple exercise can help you reclaim creative momentum—with small sparks, especially if you follow them consistently.

Want to See How I Did It?

I turned decades of work into a living, editable visual in seconds. This video shows you how:

Hey friend 👋

Here’s How My Creative Journey Prepared Me to Help YOU Break Through AI Paralysis

If you’ve ever looked at AI and felt a mix of fear, confusion, or that nagging “Why should I even care?”—you’re not alone. It’s sad but true that this is the emotional majority among purpose-driven creatives today.

But here’s the truth I want you to really feel in your bones:
You are not behind. You are not too late. And you absolutely have something worth amplifying.

My own creative journey—the one illustrated in the image above—is exactly why I’m so committed to helping you cross this threshold.

🌉 A Lifetime of Spanning the “Grand Canyon Gap.”

Long before “AI” was a buzzword, my work was already about one thing:

Bridging the Grand Canyon Gap between human creativity and emerging technology.

I did it as a media innovator. I did it as a marketing consultant, video producer, website designer, and social media marketer.
I also did it through leading three cohorts of The Creativity Sandbox.

Now, I’m doing this in a whole new way as The AI Over 50 Guy.

🚫 The 3 Barriers That Keep Creatives Stuck

Over and over, I hear the same three internal blocks:

1️⃣ “I’m afraid I’ll mess this up.”

Totally normal. AI looks technical from the outside. But when you have a safe, human guide showing you the playful, experimental side, fear dissolves. You can trust me (and yourself) on this.

2️⃣ “AI’s too overwhelming. I don’t know where to start.”

AI isn’t one tool—it’s a whole ecosystem. But you don’t need everything. All you need is a simple doorway in, one that matches your creative style, not someone else’s.

3️⃣ “Why should I even care?”

This is the most important one:
You should care because your wisdom is too important to sit in a notebook or your head.

AI helps you express more, create more, and impact more people without burning yourself out.

AI isn’t replacing your creativity—it’s unblocking it and offering new creativity-enhancing powers that I can’t wait to share with you.

🔥 Where My Journey Meets Yours

Everything I’ve done—marketing, storytelling, community building, and now practical-magic AI—funnels into one purpose:

Helping you rekindle your creative fire and turn your lived experience into meaningful work with expanded impact.

I’ve watched too many creative souls shrink back because technology felt intimidating.

It’s time to change that.

You don’t need to become “techy.”
You don’t need to keep up with every new model.
You may well need the right kind of support—human, encouraging, grounded, and creatively liberating.

Helping you make this kind of shift is the kind of service that I now feel called to provide.

💬 FINAL THOUGHT

If you feel that creative tug inside you—the one that says “I still have something to say, something to make, something to contribute”—trust it.

Your story matters.
Your wisdom matters.
And AI, used well, helps you share it wider, with less friction and more joy.

It’s never too late to play with the future.

Stay tuned! There’s a new “AI Over 50 Guy” YouTube channel and fun, easy-to-follow videos coming soon.

In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions.

Yours,

🎨 Create to Serve: The Real Edge in the AI Era ✨

AI Creativity Chronicles
Weekly Insights from
The AI Over 50 Guy

Hey friends 👋

AI moves fast. Doomscrolling is easy. Creating is harder (but is getting easier).

Here are two videos that reminded me why we create in the first place. I hope this inspires you to get your AI fingers dirty.

1️⃣ Stop Playing for Online Status

A recent video by one of my favorite creators, Roberto Nickson, nailed it: Social media has turned into a giant status game. You grind, chase, upgrade your gear, repeat, and eventually burn out, while the platforms win. “Social media is dead” (at least as we have known it.)

There is a better way.

Create to serve.

Not to impress the algorithm.

When your creativity educates, encourages, or uplifts, everything shifts. Your work gains meaning. You forget the game you couldn’t win. The joy returns.

video preview

2️⃣ AI Is Removing Creative Friction

World Labs and the pioneering AI innovator, Fei-Fei Li, just posted the vision of the future demo video below. Li and her team have pioneered “spacial computing” and they have created an AI model that understands 3D space and generates cinematic worlds 40x faster than today’s soon-to-be-obsolete movie production workflows.

Can you imagine what happens when the barriers of time, cost, and complexity fall away?

For openers, we will be able to follow curiosity, iterate faster, and bring more ideas to life… ideas that used to stay stuck in our imaginations. More “what-if” moments will be made real.

video preview

✅ The Takeaway

Forget the status game. Unleash your imagination. Create to serve. That’s where the meaning is.
AI simply makes it easier to follow your juice.

🧭 What I Learned from Our Quick 3-Question Survey

A huge thanks to everyone who participated!

Eleven seasoned creatives shared how they’re engaging with AI and new media. The results paint a clear picture of where we are — and what’s needed:

🧠 Most are already experimenting.

8 of 11 respondents are hands-on with AI tools in some way. 4 have joined creative communities or cohorts, and another 4 are learning by watching others. 2 prefer 121 coaching. Not a single person said they’re not interested.

🚧 The biggest blockers: time + trust.

4 people said time to learn or experiment holds them back. Another 4 named privacy or safety concerns. The rest mentioned feeling overwhelmed or unsure what’s relevant. (Sound familiar?)

🎥 The clear winner for learning format:
YouTube videos & mini-courses.

8 out of 11 said that YouTube videos and mini-courses are how they want to learn. Step-by-step PDF’s came in strong second.
