It’s not our health, and it’s not the people we’ve lost.

It’s the creative sparks, the stories, the wisdom inside us that may never be expressed.

The urgency of unleashing our stories and creativity is a big part of why I’ve come to call myself The AI Over 50 Guy. It’s why I see AI very differently than most people.

For me, AI isn’t about replacing creativity. It’s about unleashing it.

AI is much more than a one-off tool or a “fancy Google.” It’s something you develop a relationship with… a practice you practice… a thought partner that helps you stay with ideas long enough for them to take form.

👻 Fear of the Apocalypse Is NOT the Real Story

We’ve inherited decades of tech terror memes: Frankenstein, 2001, The Terminator, The Matrix. 🤖

They’re dramatic and memorable, but they’re not what’s actually holding people over 50 back.

The deeper fear is quieter:

That fear shrinks us — and that is the real danger.

🔥 AI Didn’t Create This Anxiety. It Surfaced It.

Here’s the reframe:

Used well, AI doesn’t replace creativity, it amplifies it.
It doesn’t replace wisdom, it gives your life experience leverage.

AI doesn’t ask you to become someone new.

🌉 A Lifetime of Spanning the “Grand Canyon Gap.”

Long before “AI” was a buzzword, my work was already about one thing:

Bridging the Grand Canyon Gap between human creativity and emerging technology.

I did it as a media innovator. I did it as a marketing consultant, video producer, website designer, and social media marketer.
I also did it through leading three cohorts of The Creativity Sandbox.

Now, I’m doing this in a whole new way as The AI Over 50 Guy.

🚫 The 3 Barriers That Keep Creatives Stuck

Over and over, I hear the same three internal blocks:

1️⃣ “I’m afraid I’ll mess this up.”

Totally normal. AI looks technical from the outside. But when you have a safe, human guide showing you the playful, experimental side, fear dissolves. You can trust me (and yourself) on this.

2️⃣ “AI’s too overwhelming. I don’t know where to start.”

AI isn’t one tool—it’s a whole ecosystem. But you don’t need everything. All you need is a simple doorway in, one that matches your creative style, not someone else’s.

3️⃣ “Why should I even care?”

This is the most important one:
​You should care because your wisdom is too important to sit in a notebook or your head.

AI helps you express more, create more, and impact more people without burning yourself out.

AI isn’t replacing your creativity—it’s unblocking it and offering new creativity-enhancing powers that I can’t wait to share with you.

AI moves fast. Doomscrolling is easy. Creating is harder (but is getting easier).

Here are two videos that reminded me why we create in the first place. I hope this inspires you to get your AI fingers dirty.

1️⃣ Stop Playing for Online Status

A recent video by one of my favorite creators, Roberto Nickson, nailed it: Social media has turned into a giant status game. You grind, chase, upgrade your gear, repeat, and eventually burn out, while the platforms win. “Social media is dead” (at least as we have known it.)

There is a better way.

Not to impress the algorithm.

When your creativity educates, encourages, or uplifts, everything shifts. Your work gains meaning. You forget the game you couldn’t win. The joy returns.

2️⃣ AI Is Removing Creative Friction

World Labs and the pioneering AI innovator, Fei-Fei Li, just posted the vision of the future demo video below. Li and her team have pioneered “spacial computing” and they have created an AI model that understands 3D space and generates cinematic worlds 40x faster than today’s soon-to-be-obsolete movie production workflows.

Can you imagine what happens when the barriers of time, cost, and complexity fall away?

For openers, we will be able to follow curiosity, iterate faster, and bring more ideas to life… ideas that used to stay stuck in our imaginations. More “what-if” moments will be made real.
